I live outside India, can I order online ?
Yes, You can place an order for the main device set online and pay in USD by selecting Paypal as payment option. Payment can be done either with existing Paypal account or by choosing credit card option within Paypal method.
How much time does shipping take ?
All orders with lightweight items are dispatched within 1-3 days, mostly by Fedex. Delivery takes around another 3-4 days within India and around 5-10 days outside India.
How does DropRobo take water drop collision shots ?
DropRobo is an electronic device which can release multiple water drops by opening and closing the solenoid valves at various intervals as per predefined timer values. The timer values are set on android app and are passed to the electronic device through Bluetooth. The time when droplet collision is going to happen is predetermined by calibration process. Hence camera and flashes are also triggered at the exact time of droplet collision to get the shot, the flash freezes the motion.
How the droplet’s collision happen ?
Typically two successive drops are released by solenoid dropper into a liquid basin which is kept underneath, the impact of the first drop on the basin results into formation of a upward worthington jet which collides with second drop in timely manner such that it forms a beautiful mushroom/umbrella structure. It can form different shapes which can be captured by variation in Flash trigger time setting or by using different drop/solenoid combinations.
Is it safe to connect Camera to the DropRobo device ?
Yes, absolutely. There is no direct voltage or current supplied into the camera by DropRobo device. It uses circuit isolation which protects the Camera and Flash.
What camera can be used ?
Any camera which has manual or bulb mode options can be used. Typically Canon, Nikon, Sony or Olympus DSLRs are compatible with DropRobo. Pick shutter release cable as per your camera model.
Note: Practically any camera which allows setting up long shutter speed would be able to take these shots. In case of any peculiar make or model, or when shutter cable slots is not provided in the camera, user will always have option to press the shutter manually.
Do I need to have a macro lens ?
Not really but it is good to have a macro lens it surely makes a difference. However, any lens which can focus accurately and can be close enough to capture details will also do the job.
What type of colours should be used ?
Any colour which dissolves completely without leaving the residuals and does not leave any stains on solenoid tube is ideal. Food dye liquid colours are easy to use.
How many Solenoid valves can be used with DropRobo ?
By default the DropRobo comes with 3 Solenoid sockets, so, it can handle between one to three solenoids.
What items should be added to cart for full multi valve system ?
Select following items for purchasing complete multi valve system-

How many flashes can be connected ?
Multiple flashes can be connected by using splitters. In case of wireless flash trigger, trigger can be connected to DropRobo which in turn can fire multiple flashes.
Does DropRobo require any battery ?
No, DropRobo is designed to run on AC to DC power adaptor provided with the kit. It’s hassle free battery less device. However, it can be connected with external battery source in place of AC to DC adaptor.
Do I need to attach Marriotte Siphon ?
It gives more consistent results if you are intended to take many shots one after the other without refilling the solenoid tube. However it also works very well without the siphon for fewer shots.
What is Bulb mode on a Camera ?
In normal modes when you press the shutter release button camera opens the shutter and then shutter is closed automatically when the exposure time on the camera is elapsed. Whereas in bulb mode, when you press the shutter release button, camera only opens the shutter and waits for another press, shutter is closed only when the shutter release button is pressed again to end the shot. By bulb mode camera allows to control the exposure duration manually. In case of DropRobo, the shutter release cable is used for shutter opening and closing actions.
What should be the Camera setting ?
Typically the aperture would be between f/11 to f/18 but you may adjust according to your light source and feasible ISO values for your Camera, ISO is generally between 100-400 for crop sensors. Camera can be used in Bulb mode or Manual mode. It is best to use it in bulb mode for hassle free control. The shutter speed in bulb mode would be entered by android app which is mostly 300 milliseconds. For more information please refer the user manual.
Can in-built pop-up flash be used ?
Yes pop-up flash can be used with camera on manual mode and by setting up appropriate shutter speed. However the best result comes with speed lights / external flashes, even the entry level flashes would do very well.
Can the stand hold solenoid firmly ?
Yes, all three options available in our store are very sturdy. The super clamp stand is of stainless steel base which is capable to hold it firmly, some users even mount multiple solenoids on this stand, however we recommend to use 1 or max 2 solenoids with this stand. The Multi Solenoid Frame Stand which is for 3 Solenoids, is very sturdy and can hold up to 6 solenoids with ease. The smart studio light owners may prefer single horizontal bar to fit into their existing infrastructure.
How many colours can we get from one valve setup ?
Normally with single valve you can create two colour shots. One colour from the receiver container and one from the solenoid tube. However, you can get multiple colors with crown colliding on to a flat surface. Moreover, with single valve if a little bit of detergent is added it can throw more dramatic colours. People also love to use flash gels, it is most commonly used for backdrop gradient which adds more real colours to the images.
